Leaking water pipes are among the most common plumbing problems—and also the most subtle.
Since the leak occurs behind your walls or above the ceiling, you may not even realize your home is suffering from this problem. Months or even years can pass before the leak becomes apparent—and by this time, larger problems may have already occurred, such as burst pipes.
ACW Service Inc. provides professional leak detection for homeowners throughout Waldorf, MD and surrounding areas. We have been solving plumbing problems for our neighbors since 1993 and continue to stay committed to delivering the best services in the Washington D.C. metro area.

Signs You Have a
Hidden Water Leak
Although leaks can be subtle, there are signs you can watch out for:
Sudden spike in your water bill—To quickly tell if a leak is the cause of your high water bill, turn off your main water shutoff valve; this cuts off the water supply throughout your home. Then, check your water meter: is it still running? If so, there is likely a pipe leaking in your home.
Sounds of water running in your walls—Do you continue to hear water running through your walls, even though none of your faucets are turned on? This could point to a hidden leak.
Musty odors—If you are having indoor air quality issues and have ruled out your HVAC system, the problem may be coming from your plumbing. Leaking water pipes can create musty or damp odors throughout your home and affect your indoor comfort level.
Damp floors or stained ceilings—Leaking pipes that run through your ceiling can create water stains, while damp spots on your flooring could signal a slab leak (which occurs beneath your home’s foundation).
A hidden water leak, particularly if it has progressed enough, can quickly result in mold growth and further affect your health. This is why we encourage homeowners to be proactive in the maintenance of their plumbing system. Know the warning signs of trouble, especially concerning hidden leaks.
If you are purchasing a new home (particularly an older property), make sure to carry out due diligence and schedule a comprehensive plumbing inspection. This will alert you to any leaks and help you avoid other potential plumbing problems.
If allowed to develop over months or years, pipe leaks can lead to major water or structural damage. Don’t wait for an emergency to happen—contact our Waldorf leak detection experts as soon as you suspect a leak in your home.
Our Approach to Leak Detection
ACW Service Inc. uses noninvasive leak detection methods to safely and accurately track down hidden leaks.
Acoustic leak detectors—This approach allows us to detect leaks by sound. Where the sound is strongest is where the leak is located.
Infrared cameras—This method is often used in conjunction with acoustic leak detection to ensure accuracy. With infrared cameras we are able to trace water movement and identify water temperatures.
Tracer gas—Some pipes are more difficult to trace due to their depth. If this is the case, we may use tracer gas (nitrogen and hydrogen) to help us locate the leak.

Ejector Pump Replacement
Stan - Accokeek, MD
ACW arrived to diagnose malfunction on a newly installed pump by a well known plumbing company that quit working after 24 hours. ACW immediately realize the type unit installed was cheap/improperly installed and the wrong size for the task. Within 2 hours ACW had the new pump installed and function tested to ensure proper operation before closing out the job. Excellent work (Family owned is the way to go).
